The Wingate House
The Wingate House was built in 1786 by John Wingate, whose father Paine Wingate served as a Senator from New Hampshire in the first Congress of the United States under our nation's new Constitution. George Washington vowed that during his first term as President, he would travel to every state in the new United States. Local lore says that during his trip to New Hampshire in 1789, Washington was received as an honored guest at The Wingate House.
